Datrium ramps up European channel efforts

Hybrid cloud management vendor Datrium has directly entered the European market and appointed a former Dell data-centre specialist to run the operation. The move, it says, will enable the company to provide real-time interaction for its existing regional customers and to connect with prospects throughout the continent.

Datrium will focus on building out its UK presence this year, hiring and training new sales staff and developing relationships with organisations and partners throughout the region, with “more ambitious expansion plans beginning in January 2020”, it said.

To spearhead the drive, Sean Mullins, a seasoned sales executive with over twenty years of experience in the technology sector, has been appointed as VP of sales in Europe. Prior to joining Datrium, he served as a UK and Ireland area manager for Dell EMC in its Modern Data Centre Division.

He was also a founding member of VCE (a former division of EMC), where he was responsible for leading some of the company’s major partnerships, helping to grow sales from $10m to over $120m over three years. He has also held various positions at Avaya, Cisco and Siemens.

Built to support even the most complex hybrid cloud environments, Datrium’s software-defined solution is aimed at the running of large enterprise data centres. It supports primary storage, manages compute functionality and offers data backup and cloud disaster recovery automation, all from a single solution.

Datrium software licenses have total portability across hardware types and deployment environments, whether on-premise or in the cloud.

"The demand for cloud-enabled converged infrastructure has never been higher among enterprises worldwide. There’s multi-billion dollar market potential for Datrium as we build out our overseas operations,” said Tim Page, CEO of Datrium. “Our expansion comes at a critical time for our customers in Europe as they need IT systems that can provide the performance, scalability and capacity required by modern applications to keep pace with their changing business needs.

“We will continue to grow our European team with top-performing executives who possess a deep knowledge of the local markets and how to best address their specific requirements," added Page.

Mullins is tasked with helping to build a broad customer base across Europe and to foster a strong channel programme in the region.

US-based Datrium completed a $60m D-round funding drive last autumn.
