Tech Data takes on Google's Glass Enterprise Edition 2

Tech Data has been appointed as an authorised distribution partner for Google's Glass Enterprise Edition 2 in Europe. Tech Data partners across the region can now access and build solutions around the Glass Enterprise wearable device.

The product is designed to enhance productivity and real-time communication across a variety of vertical industries, including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, field services and logistics.

The wearable provides “glanceable” voice-activated assistance that is designed to be worn throughout the working day, enabling two-way communication, just-in-time training and problem solving with its “see what I see” functionality. Glass Enterprise works with a variety of software solutions that are chosen depending on the use case. Tech Data says it can help partners to build bespoke solutions for end customers’ specific business requirements, by drawing on its software portfolio and the Tech Data Software Store platform for provisioning, licensing and renewals.

Luc van Huystee, vice president for mobility and consumer electronics solutions for Europe at Tech Data, said: “Glass Enterprise Edition 2 is a ground-breaking product that revolutionises the way that hands-on professionals can communicate, collaborate and learn in real time while carrying out their daily work.

“With it we are further expanding our assisted and virtual reality solutions portfolio, and we will help our partners build exciting and impactful solutions for their end customers.”

Earlier this month, Huystee's unit agreed a Europe-wide partnership with audio brand Bang & Olufsen for both consumer and business-to-business channels.
