Midwich seals wireless rooming partnership

Pan-European AV distributor Midwich has signed an exclusive deal to handle the wireless room management system from ROOMZ in the UK and Ireland.

ROOMZ connects to the wireless corporate network and includes controls such as “spontaneous booking” and “free the room”. Adding the sensor will automatically eliminate ghost meetings, said Midwich, and provide analytics on the real use of customer spaces such as meeting rooms, huddle spaces and hot desks.

The offering has a battery life of between 2-4 years on a single charge. The wall plate is cable free, can be stuck to any surface and connects to the existing Wi-Fi network. The 8in panel comes with a two-year licence. The sensor, which is a separate bit of hardware, is an up-front cost, meaning no subscription cost.

Claire Coogan, divisional manager at Midwich, said: “Midwich has seen a growth in demand for wireless room management solutions, and ROOMZ provide what we see as the next generation of solutions, with a robust and elegantly designed product that is highly secure and provides years of battery life.”

The solution will be targeted at both resellers and system integrators. Fabien Moine, head of sales and marketing at the vendor, said: “Midwich has 40 years of experience in the AV channel and we’re delighted they have identified ROOMZ as an innovative room reservation system.”

Midwich has also just sealed a distribution partnership with Sonos, a sound experience brand. The vendor provides in-ceiling and in-wall architectural speakers within commercial spaces – such as boutique retail units, hotels and corporate boardrooms. Midwich has a dedicated technical audio team to support partners and end-users.

Earlier last week, Midwich reported sales and profits growth for the first half of the year. For the 12 months ending 30 June, revenue increased 19.2% to £314.8m, including organic revenue growth of 5.1% when recent acquisitions are not included. The adjusted operating profit increased by 8.6% to £14.6m.
