Talend opens European data centres ahead of GDPR

US-headquartered cloud services firm Talend has announced it is opening new data centres in Dublin and Frankfurt to support its platform-as-a-service offerings and help European customers meet their General Data Protection Regulation requirements.

The data centres “will support Talend’s global expansion and customers that are working to comply with the forthcoming GDPR”, said the firm, with the sites expected to start hosting Talend customers from fourth quarter 2017.

Ciaran Dynes, SVP products at Talend, said: “Our primary goal as a company is to streamline the process by which data can be converted into actionable insights. However, the new data centres are vital to assist companies and their data stewards as they define new standards for data security, compliance and governance.”

GDPR comes into effect next May. One of the new data centres will act as a back-up site for the other. The big data integration software company launched a value added reseller programme in Europe in 2015, focusing in particular on opportunities in France, Germany and the UK.
