Romania’s Ministry for Information Society and South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT have signed a letter of intent for future cooperation in the area of information technology and communications.

The agreement aims at establishing a Centre for Cooperation Informatics in Bucharest, Romania. The centre will be run jointly by Romania’s National Institute of Research and South Korea’s Agency of National Information Society.

The two institutions will work together to establish cooperation relations with the emphasize on developing joint technology resources as well as setting up financial and human cooperation. The objective of the new centre is to innovate services related to ICT consulting and deliver technical training to help build human capital with ICT expertise.

“This letter highlights the major role that the ICT sector has in the world today. Inter-institutional cooperation will enable us to provide assistance, advice and training to develop well trained human resources in this field. This document is an important step in achieving these priorities especially that South Korea is viewed as one of the world leaders in the ITC. We believe that increased cooperation between the two countries will provide a boost in development of e-government in Romania,” says Romania’s Secretary of State Ionela Dobrica.
