Jobs Board 12 September: Big channel players make key hires

Veracode, the player in application risk management, has appointed Anthony Barkley as chief strategy officer, and Diana Bushard as general counsel.

Barkley brings a combination of cybersecurity expertise, sales leadership, and strategic execution to Veracode. His career foundation was forged alongside Veracode’s founder, Chris Wysopal, during the pioneering era of ethical hacking and application security at @Stake and Symantec. He subsequently advanced into senior sales leadership roles at Pivotal, VMware, and Devo, “building strong, customer-focused teams that align product innovation with evolving market needs”, said Veracode.

As chief strategy officer, Barkley will lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance Veracode’s customer engagement and retention frameworks, optimise go-to-market alignment, and scale strategic programmes across the organisation.

Bushard is a seasoned legal executive with more than two decades of experience in senior leadership roles at technology firms, including Archblock, Brightstar, and CA Technologies.

-Distributor Northamber recently appointed industry cybersecurity veteran Ian Kilpatrick as a non-executive director, as the company “sharpens its focus” on value-added services, cybersecurity, and international expansion.

An entrepreneur with over 40 years of IT and channel experience, Kilpatrick was the founder of Wick Hill, one of the UK’s original value-added distributors specialising in cybersecurity. He led the company through sustained growth before its acquisition by Nuvias Group in 2015, where he helped scale operations across Europe.

-BCN, the managed network and technology solutions provider, has named Samantha Zuniga as director of business development.

Zuniga will report to Ryan Kelly, BCN chief revenue officer, and will be responsible for the management and growth of BCN's strategic relationships across the technology solutions distributor (TSD) community.

Zuniga brings extensive experience from across the channel ecosystem, having held key roles with several leading TSDs. Most recently, she served as director of channel development at GTT, where she was instrumental in expanding partner engagement and driving revenue growth.

-Sinch, which runs its Customer Communications Cloud, has appointed Daniel Morris as its new chief product officer. He succeeds Robert Gerstmann, Sinch co-founder and chief evangelist, who has served in the role on an interim basis.

He has more than 20 years of senior product leadership experience at Sinch, Pathwire, Rackspace, and IBM.

Morris joined Sinch in 2021 through the acquisition of Pathwire, and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the company's email and applications businesses, as well as its overall product strategy.

-Pinecone, the vector database, has appointed serial entrepreneur and tech veteran Ash Ashutosh as its new CEO. He will focus on growing the company and further expanding Pinecone's position in its market category.

Company founder, Edo Liberty, becomes Pinecone's chief scientist.

-Cobalt Iron, the SaaS-based enterprise data protection provider, has brought in Joshua Pressnell as vice president of engineering. He will draw on his diverse background in defence systems, mobile applications, and enterprise software, to further strengthen Cobalt Iron’s engineering organisation, and drive innovation across its Compass enterprise data protection platform.

Pressnell’s career began in the defence sector, where he led the creation of mission-critical systems for the US Department of Defense. He later founded Varietas Software, producing over 30 “niche” mobile applications. Later, as CTO at Penthera Technologies, he led the development of advanced video streaming solutions for major media brands.

His leadership roles at RTI, Ascendum Solutions, and various startups further showcase his expertise in cloud computing, cross-functional team management, and delivering scalable, customer-focused solutions, says Cobalt.

-Veeam Software has named Doriane Groene as senior director, Microsoft Alliance for EMEA. Groene joins the EMEA alliance team with over 20 years of tech experience, and a proven track record of driving strategic partnerships and innovation across the Microsoft ecosystem, Veeam said.

Most recently, Groene led Intel’s EMEA Microsoft global account team, where she spearheaded initiatives that boosted revenue through Azure Marketplace, developed cutting-edge co-selling programmes, and supported enterprise digital transformation efforts. Her expertise spans intelligent edge technologies, Azure cloud solutions, and data-driven strategy execution.

Prior to her tenure at Intel, she held roles at Imation and Philips Laser Magnetic Storage, building a foundation in enterprise technology and partner engagement.

-Data streaming firm Confluent has appointed Stephen Deasy as chief technology officer. He will guide how Confluent builds and scales its platform, leading the engineering team’s vision, strategy, and day-to-day execution.

He’ll focus on advancing Confluent’s data streaming platform to power more AI and real-time intelligence at global scale. His leadership will further strengthen Confluent’s core infrastructure, “enabling any organisation” to more easily build and deploy real-time use cases like agentic AI, hyper-personalised customer experiences, and automated operations, we are told.

Deasy brings more than 20 years of experience leading engineering at high-growth software companies. Most recently, he built Benchling's global product and platform teams as the company’s CTO. At Atlassian, he ran engineering for Jira, Confluence, Trello, and its cloud platform. He also previously held leadership roles at VMware, EMC, and Groupon.

-Zaelab, the provider of business-to-business digital transformation solutions, has added Bob Schwartz to its board of directors as vice chairman. Schwartz brings experience building enterprise technology companies that have “reshaped” the market, said Zaelab, and will help guide it’s next phase of growth.

The appointment is said to reflect strong momentum for Zaelab, marked by two acquisitions, and expanded partnerships with Shopify, ServiceNow, and Logik.ai.

Schwartz has worked extensively on both the client and technology vendor sides of the enterprise. As president of Magento, he helped grow the open-source platform into a global leader in digital commerce, later acquired by Adobe. Earlier, he led the launch and scale of Nordstrom.com into one of the first major e-commerce brands in America.

-iplicit, the cloud accounting provider for the UK and Ireland’s mid-market, recently made two key senior hires as the firm “reaches new milestones in its partner expansion”.

Ben Crow, an experienced channel leader with 27 years of experience, including senior leadership roles at SAP and Asana, joins as iplicit’s new VP of partnerships.

And Lizzy Hillary also joins as senior product manager, having held previous positions at the Access Group and Klipboard (formerly known as Kerridge).

Following a £25m investment from growth fund One Peak in January 2025, the firm has doubled down on its partner acquisition strategy, which it sees as “critical” to its “hyper-growth”, and “displacement of legacy incumbents”, in its drive to become the “mid-market’s leading cloud accounting provider”.

The firm has now reached 50 UK partners in total. As VP of partnerships, Crow will head up the company’s partner strategy with an immediate focus on enabling existing partners through enhanced training and support, “ensuring they can deliver outstanding customer experiences and scale with confidence”, said iplicit.
