Dataplace extends Belgium reach with Nedzone buy

Data centre services firm Dataplace has bought fellow Dutch firm Datacenter Nedzone, its fourth data centre acquisition. “This deal enables us to strengthen our position in the national data centre and colocation market”, it said.

Dataplace was formed in 2010 and has been part of the Eurofiber Group since 2016. It provides services from four carrier-neutral Tier III data centres in the Rotterdam, Utrecht, Arnhem and Brabant regions. A Tier III+ facility in Hoofddorp is currently being built, and Dataplace Amsterdam is expected to be operational in Q1 2020. Nedzone has provided services since 2006. Located just off the A4 motorway, Nedzone is located in Steenbergen and plays an “important regional role” in providing data centre services in Brabant and the southern Netherlands, Dataplace said.

The location will reinforce its presence in western Noord-Brabant and Zeeland in particular, and will also extend its reach across the Belgium border to the Antwerp region. Customers can reach the data centre from Antwerp within 40 minutes.

Gerben van der Veen, managing director of Dataplace, said: “Nedzone has an outstanding reputation, is very customer-focused and is ideally located geographically. We are delighted to add them to our growing portfolio of data centres in the Netherlands and look forward to working with the team.” Arco van Bezooijen, managing director of Datacenter Nedzone, added: “We are excited to become part of Dataplace. Customers will not notice any change, since all our staff will remain at the data centre. At the same time we can benefit from Dataplace's strong market position.”
