$150m US VAR to enter the EMEA market

US VAR Paragon Micro is to open its first subsidiary outside the US with two locations in the UK from April 2020. Tech industry sales veteran Donavan Hutchinson is heading up the effort by becoming managing director for the UK & Europe. Paragon has annual sales of $150m and its main technology partners include HPE, Dell and Cisco.

The company is also now hiring, looking for staff who have worked in the IT industry “across multiple departments to include but not limited to customer service, config, IT technical support, pre-sales, sales support, service delivery and engineering services”, according to its UK website.

"International expansion has long been part of our plan as it presents a tremendous growth opportunity for Paragon Micro given that a large percentage of the IT market is located outside the US," said Paragon Micro president and CEO Jeff Reimer.

"The UK is home to many international divisions of our major US clients. The opening is in response to our US customers who conduct business in Europe and require the same kind of IT hardware, software and solutions globally." The UK is the “first milestone in an aggressive expansion into critical international markets across Europe”, said Reimer.

Hutchinson, a 17-year IT sales veteran, will head up the new offices located near Sheffield, South Yorkshire and London. He said: "We welcome the opportunity to forge new partnerships with companies using Paragon Micro's blueprint that has driven exceptional success in the US.”

Hutchinson left PCM soon after its $580m acquisition by Insight, completed last August. He launched the PCM UK business in 2017.
