French government IT looks to intelligence
SMART IT is at the heart of French government plans for the next few years. In a study, analyst Markess International has looked at the use of IT by the French government for the year 2009 and identified the prospects for 2011.
Intelligent applications are driving the agenda in all areas, with the government committed to improving internal performance. The use of collaborative tools is growing and generating new work practices, particularly within the local government sphere. The digitalisation of documents and processes is to be prioritised, including mail management, in public procurement documents, e-government within local communities, paperless vouchers, etc..
In line with the three priority areas mentioned above, it has also identified, but to a lesser extent: the introduction of online procedures, electronic archiving projects in response to the growth of content, modernising business applications and management projects for electronic document management and the redesign of websites.
