Kognitio brings DaaS to Europe

UK-based provider of software and services for BI, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics and Data Migration, Kognitio has announced its first European partnership with IT managed services and solutions provider 2e2. Under the agreement, 2e2 will offer Kognitio's Data Warehousing as a Service (DaaS) to its new and existing data analytics customers, through its operations primarily in the UK and then in the Netherlands and Belgium.

"It fits in incredibly strategically well with the work and the sort of growing SaaS marketplace already," Solutions Sales Manager 2e2, Andy Brown (left) told IT Europa. "We've already got a footprint within our customers' base for that kind of service provision but Kognitio's DaaS is totally unique, it is the first, no other organisation is able to deliver Data Warehousing in that format," he added. "This is the combination of 6-12 months of work behind the scenes to bringing it together, so we're very excited about it."

Already providing the solution out of their own data centres and thus proving that the technology works, Kognitio however is not a hosting company. "We can host but as the business grows, we look for a partner who has all the credentials to support the proper hosting with all the right security, and understands this part of the business. And 2e2 fits in that bracket," VP of Sales at Kognitio, Graham Tweddle (below, left) told IT Europa.

Indeed, "First of all, they can do the job, they've go a lot of experience in hosting applications and other kind of services; also, from a cultural point-of-view, we're very similar companies: we're very nimble, we can move quickly, and if we partner with a giant such as HP, IBM, or somebody like that, we could also do the job," he explained. And finally, "We have international expansion plans and we felt that 2e2's presence in Northern Europe was a good place for us to start this expansion," he added.

Kognitio started its operations in the United States about a year ago and has just started to market it in Europe, where it further wishes to expand to Germany, France, Scandinavia and Southern Europe, after having implemented it in the UK, followed by Belgium and the Netherlands first. "In the States it's going well, and within the continent of Europe, we felt we had to be successful in our own territory before we start looking at expanding to other countries," said Tweddle.

Marketing Manager at Kognitio, Sean Jackson (left), also on the conference call, added that Kognitio's Daas had been proven and is getting a lot of inquiries from all over Europe. "The whole essence of DaaS is that it's risk-free to the end-user. Also, it gets them up to speed very quickly with all aspects of Data Warehousing. So by partnering with the likes of 2e2, we meet the needs of a large variety of customers in Europe already."

As for the readiness of the European market regarding DaaS, Tweddle added the interest in their proposition worked, regardless of geographies, "because the whole world is suffering from the large capital expenditure budgeting projects and therefore with our operation expense pay-as-you-go service, we bet it'll go in all countries."
