Beta Distribution in administration

Printer, AV, storage and consumables distributor Beta Distribution has gone bust after 35 years of trading. The London-headquartered group's Belgium business is apparently still trading though.

Administrators from Deloitte took control of the £186m-turnover company earlier this week. But they say on the company's website that currently no new customer orders are being accepted, making it less likely that the company will be able to trade out of the quagmire it finds itself in.

Beta managed to make a near £1m profit for the 12 months ending in 2017, but its latest results for 2018 are so far not known.

Clare Boardman and Richard Hawes were appointed joint administrators of Beta Distribution Plc, Beta Distribution Employee Services, Beta Services (UK) and The Content Wall [a company only recently acquired by Beta] on 15 October. Beta Distribution BV in Belgium is not covered by the administration process.

As a result of the insolvency, the administrators have been forced to make 60 out of Beta's 100 staff redundant.
