Firstnet and Select Data Centres merge
Leeds-based IT services firm Firstnet and Manchester's Select Data Centres have merged to form Firstnet Group. The deal brings together the data centre design and construction skills of Select with Firstnet's focus on networks, managed IT, cloud services, co-location and disaster recovery.
The new group is headquartered at Firstnet's Leeds operation, which includes a 20,000 sq ft data centre that was actually designed and built by Select.
This site is now jointly owned by Select CEO Stephen Leahy and Firstnet directors David Cusworth and Angie Cusworth. And Leahy has become Firstnet Group CEO. Select's Manchester base has become a Firstnet Group satellite location to support the main Leeds operation.
David Cusworth said: "This merger is a positive development for our customers and positions the company for its next phase of growth. We plan to double our sales staff by the end of 2017 and create 100 new jobs over the next 18 months."
