Italtel, specialist in solutions for telecommunications networks and IP protocol-based service, has received Cisco’s Partner of the Year Award for South Europe for architectural excellence in the field of service provider architectures. Additionally, it has been also named Cisco’s Builder of the Year for the second year in a row.

This distinction reflects Italtel’s commitment into implementation service provider architectures such as ‘IP Backbones’ and ‘Evolved Packet Core’ solutions for mobile networks and cloud services, it says.

According to Cisco, the awards are granted to the partners who are able to demonstrate best business practices including innovative sales approaches and problem solving skills so they can become a good example to be followed by the rest of the community.

Italtel and Cisco have been working together for several years in the area of architecture for service providers. Additionally, both companies are currently advancing their work on the emerging paradigm of network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN).

“I am proud of the results achieved with this new certification. It demonstrates our commitment in reaching and maintaining an outstanding reference position in the Cisco Partners Ecosystem. The ’Architectural Excellence: SP Architectures’ guarantees our experience and ability as a system integrator of complex Cisco networks. The solid alliance with Cisco is evidenced by the joint development of services and solutions based on SDN architectures that use specific control elements for service providers’ networks,” says Camillo Ascione, Co-head of Product Unit Networks & System Integration, Italtel.

In Italy Italtel serves as a reference partner for tier one and tier two services providers and outside of the country it mainly works with telecommunications operators.
